The proper completion of the I-693 form requires a visit with a civil surgeon as designated by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). To become a designated civil surgeon, one must at minimum be either an M.D. or D.O. designated doctor with 5 years of active, non-residency, experience. This will ensure that your doctor can accurately detect, diagnose, and treat any issue that might keep an applicant from moving forward with their immigration status change.
